Mighty recently released a new version (Vibe) that specifies a 5-hour capacity – i.e. Well, it did, it REALLY did, before 6 Km (3.7 miles) the unit was dead! Granted the temperature was just a few degrees above freezing – but still, the Shuffle got me the rest of the way (they were both clipped to my shorts in the same place). I thought that I had better bring my old Shuffle in case Mighty lets me down again. It’s really hit or miss if I am going to be entertained during my runs. So many times, Mighty has left me without tunes for my training runs because the battery has drained after charging and before use. Then I did a test and it played for just over 4 hours under ideal conditions (low volume, wired headphones, normal music quality, warm inside temperature) (below the national average of marathon running time of 4h22m), which support thought was normal. They instructed me to reset the unit since it would not charge to 100%. I have contacted customer support and they were helpful. The reality is the Mighty has left me without tunes before the end of marathons. Nope (!!!), not during real-use conditions!!! I bought Mighty to use during running marathons – so 5 hours should be ok – but not much of a cushion especially if you want to listen to soothing music before a race. The Mighty specifications document that the battery will last up to 5 hours. Now I don’t lose the unit – but it often dangles from ‘safety’ the string. I have now added a clip (from an ID badge) connected to some string. It’s a good thing I use wired headphones and not Bluetooth or the unit would have been long since lost. Mighty easily comes off when clipped to my shorts. What is a big deal is that the clip is not secure. But in the end, it has been an almost complete disappointment – and I REALLY wanted to like it.įirst of all, it’s larger than an iPod (corrected -) Shuffle – but that’s really not a big deal. I primarily use my portable music player for running. The Shuffle still works great, but it does not allow me to download Spotify music. I wanted a unit to replace my still working iPod Shuffle. Is there any alternative, a reliable player (preferably with no screen) that can play spotify for a long time? Basically a phone with no screen, dedicated to playing spotify and incapable of doing anything else.Back in February of this year, I purchased the first version of the Mighty portable music player. Pebble Core is dead, Garmin Vivoactive is another bulky watch, expensive and again loaded with software that I don't want to have. Tons of other software bothering me there too. I read that a Samsung Gear S3 can play spotify, but it has only 4GB of storage and to be honest I don't want to wear that ugly ass watch. If I find nothing else I will get one and see how long it lasts but I'd much rather spend money on something solid built in the first place. I found the "Mighty Vibe" player but it seems weak, coin-sized plastic for 90 bucks with no seperate charge port, ridiculously tiny battery (5hrs). I searched online with no success, maybe someone on here is using something that fits my needs. Not something that happens to run spotify at the moment. Just to be clear, a device that has the specific function of playing spotify and nothing else. I need a device that can play spotify offline and connect to bluetooth headphones.
